Troubleshooting Ford F250 Power Stroke Diesel Fuel Gauge Problems
Ford F250 trucks include a 6.4 L V8 engine, and automatic transmission option; these trucks were also marketed with optional diesel engine. Let us see few troubleshooting steps for Ford F250 power stroke diesel fuel gauge problems in this post.
Problems and Troubleshooting
Usually, there will be problems associated with fuel gauge readings.
Issues With Fuel Tank Readings
Readings at the tank transfer switch may not be proper. Even if you change the tank switch, the problem may persist. The gauge ultimately drops down when the truck’s ignition is turned off. The gauge does not stay stable at any point and starts moving up and down.
Whenever these kinds of problems are encountered, you can understand that the fuel gauge is out of calibration and the range of multi-meter is mostly on wrong part. The fuel gauge resistance is supposed to read 22.5 ohms at empty condition and 145 ohms at tank full condition. If you can get the appropriate resistance, then the fuel gauge might be damaged and may need replacement.
Issues With Speedometer
Speedometer may start freaking when the engine is running, mostly due to bad ground wiring. After grounding the wires properly, the problem should most probably be rectified easily. If the problem persists, the unit should be replaced.
